seven year itch

The older I get, the more shallow I become...was in the corner shop yesterday (hunting out suitably cute birthday card for my lovely Auntie Joyce) when I saw a wedding anniversary card, that pictured all the "themes" for the first 10 years of marriage (you know the sort of thing, 1st year: cotton depicted by a reel of cotton, 2nd year, er, something else, depicted by something else) and I saw that 7 years = wool (depicted by a ball of pink yarn with some nice bamboo needles speared through it). So now I want to celebrate seven years of marriage (have notched up nearly 11 months since last year's nuptials) and I think I understand what people mean by "seven year itch": it is (obviously) the insatiable desire to have been married 7 years and to be showered with balls of wool by one's loving spouse. And, in the spirit of being "21 again", I can see knitters everywhere celebrating their 7th anniversary over and over again.

Enough: I'm off to feed my neighbours' very affectionate cat. (Graham drew the short straw and has to water their kitv=chen garden, which doesn't mew, purr and generally *adore* in the same way).

7 years definitely calls for a wool shower!

Or maybe the seven-year itch is caused by a particularly scratchy wool?

It's my parents' wedding anniversary next week. I Googled and learned that there's no traditional gift associated with 46 years of marriage, but that the modern gift is an original poetry offering!! Not sure I could even make a serious effort with that one - nor that they'd really want me to!

Looking forward to joining the KTog on the last Tuesday in July, providing I'm not too heffalumpy by then.

I'll have been married 14 years in August and thats 2 x 7, so do I get DH to buy me double the yarn I should have got at 7? Now thats an interesting thought!

But Bobbi, i love yarn as much as the next person but next to platinum think the platinum wins. I'm obviously very lucky as i got platinum before the wedding (my enagament ring) will again on the wedding day (wedding ring). I should be about on Saturday so let shope its nice and we can knit al fresco.

I think we should come up with a whole new list of these, especially for knitters (change paper to books about knitting, wood to Britanny, Lantern Moon and peace Fleec needles. 50 years= tons of Koigu). Shona, yes, I'd say that 14 years = double helpings of wool and Bobbi, how about some platinum stitch markers?
